FAMI-QS is a code of Good Practice, whose property is held by FAMI-QS Asbl, which is addressed to companies dealing with feed and complementary feed additives and premixtures. Its aim is to set out some procedures, concerning both a company’s products and internal processes (from the choice of its suppliers according to their qualifications to products delivery to customers), in order to ensure that hygienic and sanitary requirements are satisfied and reduce the chances that unsafe products could enter the feed/food chain.
The FAMI-QS certification is voluntary and involves the implementation of a Feed Safety Management System. This European Code of Practice for Animal Feed Ingredients Operators is in line with the Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council laying down requirements for feed hygiene, (Regulation 183/2005/EC), in particular articles 20 to 22 which encourage the development of guides to good practice on hygiene and the application of HACCP principles.
Since the FAMI-QS certification is internationally valid, FAMI-QS certified companies may be found all over the world. Moreover, it is the first European guidance of good practise to be officially acknowledged by the European Commission, in compliance with the Feed Hygiene Regulation.
FAMI-QS is the only certification for specialty feed ingredients and mixtures. FAMI-QS certified companies presence actually spreads all over 47 countries.

Unika decided to begin the FAMI-QS certification process in 2016, in order to improve its internal production process and successfully face foreign markets. Since its establishment, our company has been engaged in finding new ways to improve, in order to ensure the high quality of its feeds and complementary feeds.
We carefully choose our suppliers, we have an in-house laboratory to ensure that both our raw materials and final products meets our quality standards, we manufacture our products in compliance with the most efficient Best Practices: that’s why Unika is a trustful and efficient feeds and complementary feeds supplier.
But we do not stop here: Unika has in mind to begin other quality certification processes to improve even more.
