Description: Beta-E Muscle is the complementary feed composed of a blend of antioxidants (vitamin E and vitamin C), organic selenium, betaine and alpha-lipoic acid. It facilitates proper elimination of free radicals (dangerous waste products of organic chemical reactions that can provoke oxidative stress and have dangerous, toxic effects on the body) by improving muscle tone and agility, helping horses endure longer efforts and delaying muscle fatigue. Curcuma longa, a phytotherapy extract known for its ability to improve the immune system’s response, is what really distinguishes Beta-E Muscle from other antioxidants on the market. Curcuminoids, in fact, are a well-known treatment in the field of inflammatory diseases, for they improve immune defences and help protect the body from oxidizing agents (24, 35).
When to use Beta-E Muscle: Beta-E Muscle is particularly suitable for all horses that have suffered from muscle pain, tying-up and intoxications due to free radicals. Moreover, Beta-E Muscle is also suggested when CPK and LDH levels are too high. High levels of CPK and LDH are a sign of muscle acidosis; therefore, it is important to intervene as soon as possible to restore CPK and LDH normal levels.
Properties of its constituents: Vitamin E, vitamin C and alpha-lipoic acid can neutralise free radicals and, therefore, have a significant antioxidant effect on the body. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin exerting an antioxidant action on the body. Therefore, it is crucial to add it to sporthorses' diets. All eight vitamin E chemical forms have antioxidant properties, but alpha-tocopherol seems to be the most tolerated by the body (6). Curcuma longa is a valuable ally for horses, for it stimulates their immune system and, therefore, improves their immune defences (24, 35).
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is the most significant antioxidant and water-soluble substance in living organisms (5). Alpha-lipoic acid is a sulfurated compound involved in many reactions producing energy from branched-chain amino acids. It increases glutathione levels in the body and, therefore, is considered an antioxidant agent (36).
Use and dosage: Administer 40-80 g of Beta-E Muscle per day, properly mixed with the daily ration, for at least 30 consecutive days.

This product does not cause any adverse reaction. Nevertheless, since every organism has its own peculiarities, dietary supplements, feeds and complementary feeds should always be introduced in a horse’s diet gradually, in order to evaluate the product’s effects on the horse.
